Evolv Summer Series
Comp #2
Everyone listened anxiously as the comp rules were spoken. Sponsors were thanked and what seemed like an eternity later, comp two of the Evolv Summer Series was under way. Competitors quickly did their warm-ups and proceeded to eye the problems they would test themselves on. Word around the boulder was that the route setting for this comp seemed to be more challenging than the last. With a sense of intimidation, sharing ideas and providing a welcomed spot was commonplace as each competitor exhibited the sportsmanship of an icon.
At 56, this was our largest field of competitors and also the most diverse. Ages ranged from seven to sixty with plenty of male and female competitors in every category, whether it Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced or Open. Throughout the night there were plenty of falls but an equal amount of great sends by all competitors. As the night progressed our once eager competitors were beginning to grow tired which made some of the problems even more difficult. With the blood flowing and muscles beginning to tire encouragement was given more freely and cheers became louder as competitors pushed through their personal boundaries to finish climbs that had previously denied them from completion.
It’s safe to say that everyone tried their best to complete the seven hardest climbs they could in three hours. Scorecards were totaled as the raffle prizes were given to the lucky winners of some awesome donations. We were happy to see everyone leaving with a smile on their face and hope for the same at the third and final comp of the series on August 5th.
Big thanks to our sponsors:
Evolv, La Sportiva, Rock/Creek, Sterling Rope, Metolius, Voo Doo, So Ill, Bluewater, Mountain Khakis, The Crash Pad, Insane Paintball, Lupis Pizza, Clumpies Ice Cream, Urban Stack and Big River.
