How old do I have to be to climb?
A general guideline is 4 years old. Everyone is different though and a parent's good judgement is the ultimate deciding factor.

You must be 14 years old to take our belay test unless given exclusive permission by Urban Rocks Gym management.
Can I teach my friend how to climb in your gym?
Unfortunately due to liability issues only Urban Rocks Staff is allowed to teach in our facility.
What should I wear?
Climbing can be done in just about any clothing, but comfortable sportswear is the best option.
What is belaying?
Belaying is the process of securing and safeguarding a climber by using a rope to hold the climber’s weight if he falls. The ascending climber and the belayer, or the person holding the rope through a belay device, are a team that is linked together by the rope. Belaying is an important part of the climbing chain of safety and one of the most important skills that any novice climber must master to become a safe climber.
I want to bring my children in. How much will it cost?
It is $14 for our Junior Combo package which includes a day pass and climbing gear. With this they will be able to try our bouldering as well as our five auto belays which are located on our taller roped walls. If a parent or guardian already knows how to manage the ropes for their child they may do so at no additional cost. They may also take a class to learn how to belay. Check out our Kids page for more options.
What is bouldering?
Bouldering is climbing on shorter walls, usually 10 - 15ft tall and no ropes are needed. If you fall there are large gymnastic pads to fall on. This type of climbing tends to be a bit more difficult than the roped climbing and is it is recommended that climbers are 12 or older. Children under 12 are allowed to climb on the boulder but must be supervised by an adult at all times and are not allowed to top out on the boulder.
